TV Broadcast Design and CGI Production: Network Branding Case Study

We delivered a comprehensive visual identity and broadcast packaging package for the TVP Historia television network in collaboration with the Tengent agency. This project required us to merge historical accuracy with high-end CGI production. Our studio modernized the visual presentation of historical events to create an engaging experience for contemporary viewers.

The Challenge: Modernizing TV Network Branding with CGI

The primary challenge was designing a visual narrative that respects historical events while utilizing modern digital aesthetics. Television networks require exceptional broadcast packaging to maintain viewer retention between programs. We needed to create a cinematic atmosphere that reflected the educational mission of the station. Our team focused on building a consistent and engaging visual language across all digital assets.

What is TV Broadcast Design in Modern Television?

TV broadcast design is a specialized form of digital art that establishes the visual identity of a television network. It utilizes dynamic motion graphics and custom 3D animation to create intros, bumpers, and lower thirds that keep audiences engaged.

High-quality broadcast packaging builds trust and professionalism. Networks rely on expertly crafted visual communication to stand out in a crowded media landscape. Consistent branding helps viewers immediately recognize the channel and sets the emotional tone for the programming.

Our CGI Production Pipeline for Broadcast Packaging

The production process demanded a structured workflow from the initial concept to the final broadcast-ready files. We divided the project into specialized stages to ensure the historical accuracy and visual fidelity of every 3D model.

3D Environment Modeling and Texturing

Our artists meticulously reconstructed historical environments using advanced 3D modeling techniques. We paid close attention to architectural details and realistic lighting to create an immersive digital world. The modeling phase involved applying high-resolution textures that perfectly captured the wear and tear of historical artifacts.

VFX Compositing and Post-Production

Once the digital environments were rendered, we moved to the finishing stages. This involved complex VFX compositing where we blended multiple digital layers to achieve a cinematic and dramatic look. We adjusted color grading and atmospheric effects to ensure the final broadcast elements looked spectacular on both standard and high-definition television screens.

The Impact of High-Quality 3D Animation on Viewership

Investing in premium CGI production significantly elevates the perception of a television station. The new broadcast design successfully refreshed the image of the network and attracted a younger demographic. Engaging digital content helps broadcasters build stronger connections with their audience and increases the overall production value of their film production segments.

Broadcast Design Technologies and Production Team

Delivering this complex broadcast package required a robust technological pipeline and an exceptional group of artists. We utilized Maya as our primary 3D environment alongside 3ds Max, ZBrush, and Blender for detailed 3D modeling. For the intricate image integration, we relied on Nuke and Adobe After Effects to execute precise motion design and color correction. Rendering was powered by Redshift and V-Ray, with Unreal Engine 5 utilized for specific shot testing. Our entire workflow operated on high-performance GPU workstations equipped with NVIDIA 3000 and 4000 series cards.

The success of this network branding project was driven by our dedicated team of specialists. Project Manager Lukasz Gdaniec coordinated the entire production. Lead 3D Waldemar Tabaka and 3D Artist Tomasz Dabert developed the digital environments. Mateusz Golis and Kamil Jedrasiak managed digital asset creation and VFX compositing. Michal Gniadek finalized the visual effects through 2D animation and additional post-production. Every member of the Alchemiq team played a crucial role in bringing this historical broadcast design to life.

In cooperation with Tengent Studio for Telewizja Polska Historia, we made an animated opening sequence. Our task was to make a spot based on the approved creation.
